Endemic to South Africa, the stapelia hirsuta, common name starfish flower or carrion plant, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the Apocynaceae family.

The flowers are flat, very hairy, dark-red and resemble rotting meat. The carrion smell serves to attract various pollinators, especially flies. The flowering period extends from late summer through late autumn.

While growing stapelia succulents can be a rewarding experience, getting them to bloom requires attention to specific care guidelines. Stapelias respond well to conditions that mimic their native habitat. Try to replicate the temperature fluctuations and light exposure they would naturally receive.

Light: Place in a bright, indirect light location, or a sunny spot for a few hours a day. Avoid full sun, which can burn the plant.

Water: Water when the top inch or two of soil feels dry, but avoid overwatering. In the summer, you might need to water weekly, but in the winter, you can water less often

Fertilizer: During the growing season, fertilize once a month with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. You can also try topdressing with a nutrient-rich layer to give the roots a boost.

Non-Toxic

Please note that I cannot guarantee the flower or buds will be around when purchased
