Medinilla 'Gregori Hambali' is a rare semi-epiphytic tropical plant from Papua New Guinea known for its large, glossy leaves with reddish-purple undersides and spectacular, pink flower clusters that form along its upright stems. It thrives in bright, indirect light, high humidity (60-80%), and a well-draining, porous soil mix like sphagnum moss, preferring that the soil dries slightly between waterings.

Light: Bright, indirect light, with morning sun being acceptable, but midday sun may require shading.

Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings.

Potting Medium: Use a light, free-draining, porous potting medium, similar to what's used for orchids.

Blooming: Produces clusters of hot pink flowers that grow directly from the main stem. These unique, cauliflorous blooms hang in pendulous clusters, surrounded by large, glossy green leaves that have reddish-purple undersides.

Medinillas excrete small, round, semi-translucent grains known as "growth sugars". These growth sugars are completely harmless to the plant and having growth sugars present is actually a tell-tale sign that that plant is healthy and thriving in its current growing conditions.
